Teaching at Yosemite

Signal is slow here in the valley.  Its been a wonderful 6 days and only 2 more teaching days left.  I've had terrific students and I'll be returning next year for sure.  The staff here is fantastic and my family has been exploring the park while I teach.  Aline, the art center director has been a wonderful host.  I love teaching.

New Studio and April 4th Paint out

I haven't posted in a while... We've been working on the studio, preparing for my trip to Yosemite, and I've been using all my spare time to work on paintings.  So I've been out of touch with my computer, not necessarily a bad thing ;)

The back of the cottage, the Tyvek is covering all the windows.

Just one of the views from the deck, you can see Kahoolawe, Molokai, and Lanai. We will be planting soon.  I can't wait to be working there.

Photos from the 4/4/12 paint out at Napili Bay
It was a beautiful day, great paintings as well.

So the studio is nearing completion.

Family Day Paint Out

My family and I went to Iao Valley, they wanted to play in the water so I painted this Iao River. It was a beautiful day.  I can't wait to go back and paint some other scenes.  I was precariously perched on some rocks, I managed the under painting but have to finish it now. Next time I'll find some flatter rocks so that I can relax a little while I paint.

I found an incredible view of the valley from a knoll near the parking lot... I didn't get a photo, but this is close.  There are so many places here to paint.

Wainee Valley

Unfortunately no pictures from today, painted Wainee valley.  The clouds were casting fantastic shadows on the mountain side.  The recent rains are starting to green up the landscape.  A beautiful day to be out.

Welcome to the New Blog

Welcome to the new blog. Today we painted in Oluwalu on the coast.
There is a terrific fell tree on the shore.  The clouds were beautiful.  We had a little wind and some sprinkles but nothing serious and it was a nice morning out.

Pua painting.

Maui Painting Excursions is underway.  Below are some paintings from my last few paint outs. I will be blogging after every painting excursion with photos of our locations and painting results. We hope that you can join us soon!

Launiupoko Hill
Just down the hill from my studio, I went to paint goats but this knoll was beautiful so I painted it instead

Pacific Maid
This was the last day the Pacific Maid was left intact before they started cutting her up to remover her from the reef.
Cheesburgers
We painted from the park near the library, I didn't get much done on this one, I'll finish it in the studio
Olowalu Eagle
1st Paint out in Maui, Olowalu Eagle, I can't wait to go back and try another angle and perhaps a much larger canvas.
